I just returned from my mc road trip to Buda, TX, which is near San Marcos, TX. I rode 2,200 miles solo and mostly had
a great time. No serious rain fell my way, just some sprinkles now and then. Terrible winds 2-3 times, but just had to
slow down to deal with those and keep on trucking. I went down to visit with Melissa (Missy) and Pat, and granddaughter,
Jessa also my brother Rob from Houston came up to Buda for the visit. Last Saturday I was floating down the San Marcos
River in a tube. The water was nice and cool (not freezing like around here!)and we opted to float down the length of
the tubing run twice. Nice relaxing fun for all.
The ride home from Buda to Denver was
quick. On Tuesday Roger rode down to Raton, NM to meet me for the last day's ride into Denver.
Wed. we rode home together, taking a long detour through the San Isabel Mtns. in So. Colorado. We stopped off at
Bishop's Castle
along rte 165. Amazing Place! Kind of a huge tribute to insanity (& I mean that in the nicest way - being mostly
nuts myself). I plan to make a couple of small stained glass contributions for his castle windows. The castle has
donated stained glass throughout, but room for much more yet, so I think I want to contribute too.
Jasmine's July Events
July Events include another Signed Beginers MC Class at T3RG,
Check out the schedule. You can read about previous signed classes and also letters from Deaf and Hearing
Students at this link.
Other than that, I plan on working lots, It's Prime-Time for teaching the riding course. Roger and I are planning
a small mc camping trip for the end of July. Somewhere local and easy and beautiful. That's the up-side of living
in Colorado - don't have to go far to camp-out in lovely places.
I'm still plugging the AMA Committee about becoming a Speaker for the 2009 International AMA Women's Conference, to
be held in Keystone, CO next year. Whether they invite me to speak or not... I plan on attending. Lynette and I
already have a room reserved. I rode down to Athens, GA for the last one in 2005. It was a most wonderful event, with
women riders from all parts of the globe in attendance. There were several very educational and fun speakers/seminars,
etc. at that one, as I'm sure there will be at the next one. Stay Tuned In.
I've been meaning to tell everyone about the Ride for the Rocky Mtn Deaf School, which is where I volunteer
to help with the Deaf Elementary Children during the school year. One year, I helped in the lunch room and with
cleaning. Last year I helped by teaching some dance classes for the kids. I'm hoping to do more of that next year.
One of the hearing grandparents is a mc rider and decided to organize this run, which will be held on Sept.13.
Anyway, below is the description and link to their flyer.
Rocky Mountain Deaf School is hosting
The "It Takes a Village" Motorcycle Ride and Building Benefit.
Our goal is to raise a million dollars on that day and begin making
the dream of owning our own building come true. This spectacular event will be September 13th from 1:00 - 9:00 at The
Barn in Evergreen.
There will be fabulous food, live music, a silent auction and a live
auction with tons of amazing items!
Bring your motorcycle or your mini-van and join us for a really great
time.
If you want to be part of a group motorcycle ride, more information
will be headed your way!
Tickets are $15 per person.
We are also in need of a large number of volunteers for that day.
