Women in the Wind...the book

April & May 2007 Update

CO Biker Training
Well, things have been pretty busy around here lately, we've had good enough weather to teach the mc safety classes again. Running PPCC in CO.Springs is keeping me very busy. Although we have plenty of students enrolled, the weather has not always been co-operate. Kind of Sucks!

Deaf News
We will have another Signed MC class for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students May 11-13 in Colorado Springs. The class filled up so fast - it made our heads spin! I will be teaching 6 Deaf with help from Dina Pierce, my favorite Interpreter and also help on the range from the CO. Deaf Bikers Club. Please scroll down this page, for more news about this class and the upcoming Oct.2007 class.

Personal Notes
My oldest Daughter, Juniper and her husband PJ - will be having their first baby aproximately June 1st. I'll be flying out to Oregon 3rd week of May, hopefully to be there when little 'Scooter' arrives.

Missy, my precious adopted one... is planning to ride up from Texas in June and we'll be riding to the annual Ladies Fugawe Run here in CO. They've really planned a fun ride for this year. I can hardly wait for that one.

I will be on Channel 2 morning show one day soon, to promote my book, Women In The Wind. I'm hoping to be interviewed by Angie Austin, but will go with whoever they're willing to let me talk to. LoL

I joined Agiya Nomad Chapter of WITW this year, a very small but select group indeed. I'll be joining my good friends Peggy Zeeb from Montana and Gracie from St. Louis in this special chapter.

I plan on attending several motorcycle events this summer, including:
* Biker Ally Rally in Galena, Ill
*Women In the Wind Summer Nationals in Madison, WI
* PAS Rally in Montana and of course-
The Fugawe Run in CO.
I will be selling my books at all of these events and will keep ya'll informed of other book signings. Stories from the summer's road trips to come....
Till Then - Keep the Shiny Side UP ^
s'miles, Jasmine

June 2007 Update

Well, May is on it's way out and I'm in Oregon waiting for baby 'Scooter' to get born. His real name will be Destin Solaris and he's due on the planet anyday now. My daughter Juniper, and the whole family is pretty excited about his arrival. But before we talk about June, let's revisit some of May's events.

May 2007 Signed Class Update
Our Deaf Motorcycle Class was the best one yet. 6 students participated and 5 finished successfully. My new friend, Luci Gale from Denver and five Deaf from Co.Springs all took the class. One young man dropped out due to sore muscles. We had a blast and the other five all graduated by 4:30 on Sunday. One of Jasmine's personal goals has been to be able to teach and complete the signed classes in the same time that a hearing class normally takes. In past years, these classes took hours longer each day of the course. Last year's Memorial weekend signed class and this year's class ~ we finished on time all 3 days and we had a lot of fun while learning how to ride. We actually only used an interpreter for the Friday night starting classroom session, and winged it for the rest of the weekend.

I had so much support from the Colorado Deaf Bikers Club and I'm learning how to sign better all the time, PLUS ~ I had really great students. It all came together for the best class to date. I seriously must thank several people who helped out tremendously...
Billy and Lisa Allen we're both a huge help with the signing and cone work on the range. Brian Patoskie and Josie (who drove all the way down from Ft. Collins to help) also helped on the range and in the classroom. Without these 4 individuals helping out I certainly would've needed an interpreter for Sunday's classroom and written test. As it was, we all worked together to make this the best class ever. I just have to offer a BIG THANK YOU to all who participated.

Other Great News
While I'm visiting here, I thought I'd see about selling my book in Oregon. I visited only 4 mc shops here and 3 of them bought my book.
Love Leathers will sell copies from their shop in Vancouver, WA.
Latus Motors Harley-Davidson in Portland, OR bought several books and will be selling them at their retail store.
MOB Inc. (Motorcycles of Bend, OR) will also carry my book for all of their lady riders to enjoy. I'm very excited about all of that. So if you find yourself in the Pacific Northwest this Summer or Fall, consider stopping in at one of these stores and asking about the book.

June Events
Finally!!! Three fun rides/events this month:
WITW Summer Nationals comes up first. June 19-22nd I'll be in Madison, WI visiting with all my girlfriends.
Biker Ally Rally immediately follows summer nationals. June 22nd-24th, I'll borrow my friend, Peggy Mac Donald's Softail and ride over from WI for this rally. I will be giving two talks, one on mc maintenance and mechanics and the second talk will be on mc safety issues. I shall be selling and signing books at both events.
CO. Fugawe Ride will be coming up at the end of the month and my daughter Missy will be riding up from Texas to join me/us for that ride. Looks like a fun month ahead of me... now if this baby would just get born over here in Oregon!
