Departing the Rapid City, Mount Rushmore area of South Dakota, the riders wind their way through the Black Hills, over to Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming and down through the central Rocky Mountains in Colorado to ride triumphantly into the Keystone Resort and Conference Center, home to the 2009 International Women and Motorcycling Conference. Once there, we will be on a panel of women riders to speak about women doing adventure rides and raising money for Breast and Ovarian Cancer research.
I am proud to say that I will be going on this once-in-a-lifetime-adventure in August. I can hardly wait. I hope you will consider making a donation in my name and help sponsor both myself and Women's Cancer Research. Thank You so much! : )
The 2009 Civilian Top Gun Competition ~ Sponsored by T3RG, held May 17, 2009 at Invesco Field ~
I rode Scarlett Dancer in the Cruisers division. I was told I'm the first woman rider to ride a large motorcycle in a Civilian Top Gun in the whole nation. I don't know if that's true or not... but Sue Deiss and I were the only women who rode in the competition. Sue rode a smaller Suzuki V-Strom through the course, making quite a good showing for us female riders. I made it through the course without knocking down any cones or falling over, but I did run over the edge of a few and had to put my feet down a couple of times. Scarlett and I did crash during the practice run Sunday morning, but did much better in the real competition. At this time, I'm still nursing my bruises!

With all the excitement of these and other events, I almost forgot to mention that I am now writing full time for Thunder Roads, CO magazine. I have a regular column on events and feature articles, plus restaurant and product reviews. I'm also writing the occasional wrenching article for Thunder Roads. Of course, I'm still International Maintenance Officer for the Women In The Wind Club (10 years now!) and still writing wrenching tips for Shooting the Breeze 6 times a year.
